Jasmín la Carís is a Performing Artist, Choreographer, Director, and Muse. A leader in the Fresno Dance Community, she has built her reputation in aristocratic and underground circles performing in Art Galleries, Theaters, and found spaces.
Fresno society has experienced her vibrant story telling at Tower Theater, The Fresno Art Museum, Arte Americas, and The Grand Ballroom, where her work “LITERARY MOVEMENTS” was the first full-scale theatrical production in the historic building since 1922. Her choreography “AND STILL I RISE” featured a recording by the late Dr. Maya Angelou and was honored at The Pink Show as a visual anthem for Cancer survivors.
La Carís was Artistic Director of the critically recognized “THE ART OF DANCE” which celebrated 3 years of intense, euphoric dance in Fresno. Her thematic, monthly performances broke ART HOP attendance records at Broadway Studios and inspired her work PAS DE PEINTURE. Sold-out weeks before opening, PEINTURE redefined audience boundaries and explored vibrant color. Inspired, Fashion retailer ANGL invited Jasmín to choreograph their 2014 Fashion Show where she designed a distinct runway from tables, boxes, and chairs.
Jasmin’s production talents were seen when artist Manuel Gutierrez commissioned her with KOMPAZ, an extraordinary Flamenco performance at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The show included a 25-person cast and was invited to perform at Eva Longoría’s The Global Gift Initiative “Padres Contra el Cáncer” and Verizon’s Latino Entrepreneur of the Year at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Los Angeles.
